Themes for NetSurf

Posted by Andrew Duffell on 13:32, 14/11/2004 | , , ,

NetSurf LogoIt's been a long time since we mentioned NetSurf. NetSurf is the result of a project to bring a free HTML4 and CSS compliant browser to RISC OS, and was started back in the summer of 2002. Last week the developers released a theme packager for NetSurf called NSTheme which allows users to create their own compatible themes, and warns of any errors there may be.
NetSurf and the Theme packager can be downloaded from here, and there are special builds of NetSurf for NCs and computers with less than 8MB memory.

The term "theme manager" as used in this article is a misnomer - NSTheme doesn't manage themes at all. As is quite clearly noted on the download page, it is a "theme packager" for use by creators of themes (end users need not know about it at all). NetSurf manages themes itself.

It's interesting to note that a project that is the spawn of TIB's playpen has had so little coverage on TIB (drobe's coverage makes up for that somewhat).

[Article Updated]

The lack of coverage is mostly due to me being to scared to post due to my subtle involvement with the project. I'd perfer other people to post articles on NetSurf, but since that clearly hasn't happened I'll probably post more.

Erm, actually.. truth be told, I haven't actually contributed anything to netsurf. I just haven't had chance to write anything about NS yet :P

The only thin left that I added is the logo which was copied from a sketchy design by monkeyson(?) AFAIK.
