With a new year upon us it is heartening to see that there is already a good list of RISC OS events scheduled for this year. So here are some dates to add to your shiny new diary or PDA.

Update - Invicta RISC OS Users' Group

Peter Campbell-Banks has got in touch to let us know that IRUG meet on the third Sunday of every month at 14:30 at the Royal Naval Association Club in Kent. This means their next meeting will be on the 20th. For more details on the group check out their website, email Peter, or 'phone him on 07854 055060.
 

User groups

ROUGOL - Monday 17th January

First up is the RISC OS User Group Of London's first meeting of the year, to be held at the Blue Eyed Maid in London. The guest speaker at the meeting will be Stephen Streater, who founded Eidos and was instrumental in the development of the Optima video editing suite. Amongst other topics he'll be talking about his latest venture, Forbidden Technologies, and how they plan to revolutionise video editing by making use of cloud computing.
 
ROUGUL meetings are held on the third monday of every month, so be on the lookout for details of their next meeting, to be held on the 21st of February.

RONWUG - Wednesday 19th January

The RISC OS North West User Group hold meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, which if my maths are correct, means that their next meeting will be next Wednesday. The group meets at the Trafford Metrovick Rugby & Cricket Club in Sale. More details about the group are available at their website.

WROCC - Wednesday 2nd February

The Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club's next meeting will apparently feature Peter Richmond's eagerly-anticipated 'RISC OS Quiz'. As usual the meeting will be held at the West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club in Wakefield.
 
The group holds meetings on the 1st Wednesday of each month - check their website for more details.

Southampton Acorn User's Group - Tuesday 10th February

Although an official announcement is pending, it looks like the next meeting of the Southampton Acorn User's Group will be on the 10th of February, at its usual location of the Itchen College in Southampton. Expect to see Dave Higton in attendance, showing off his latest progress on adding CMOS RAM support to the OMAP port of RISC OS.

SASAUG - Monday 14th February

The Sussex & Surrey Acorn User's Group will hold their next meeting at the usual time and place - 8:00pm at the Horsham Methodist Church Hall in Horsham. Meetings are typically held on the second Monday of each month.

Midland User's Group - Saturday 19th March

Although we're a bit late to annouce today's meeting, news is that MUG's next meeting will be on the 19th of March and will cover the use of Messenger Pro's advanced features. The meeting will be held at the The Methodist Church Hall in Bromsgrove. More details, including those of future meetings, are available at the group's website.

Shows

South West Show - Saturday 5th March

The first show of the year will be the South West Show, to be held at the Webbington Hotel and Spa in Loxton.
 
The Wessex ARM User's Group, which organises the South West Show, holds monthly meetings, typically on the 2nd Saturday of each month. More details are available on their website.

Wakefield Show - Saturday 16h April

This year's Wakefield Show will once again be held at the Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield. Exhibitor details are yet to be announced, so keep an eye on their website for more information.

Midlands Midsummer Mugshow - Saturday 9th July

The Midlands Midsummer Mugshow returns again, to be held at St John's Church Hall in Kenilworth. Keep an eye on the Midland User's Group's website for more details as they become available.

RISC OS London Show - Saturday 29th October

And last but not least is this year's RISC OS London Show. Details of this year's show are currently a bit scarce, but it's likely to be held at its usual location of the St Giles Hotel in London.
